Baku, Azerbaijan, Sept. 25

By Fikret Dolukhanov – Trend:

Taxify considers current commission rate for drivers in Baku (20 percent) standard for the market and won’t change it, a representative of the international taxi-ordering service told Trend on Sept. 25.

“Twenty-percent commission is our standard rate for mature markets similar to Baku, which is an optimal fare for covering the operational and development costs. We are continuously working on improving the product, to offer the best driving experience for both drivers and passengers,” the company representative said.

The representative also acknowledged the issues with some drivers not willing to accept orders with non-cash payments and said that Taxify is actively engaging with drivers to prevent this from happening.

“We have enforced specific quality control measures to combat these instances and are already seeing significant improvements in response rates. In-app trips should not get any special treatments in terms of drivers getting any incentives for processing these orders, so we do believe this is a matter of communication and quality assurance that we are actively working on,” the company's representative said.

It should be noted that some drivers in Azerbaijan argue that the commission rate of Taxify is high compared to competitors.

On the other hand, numerous users in social networks in Azerbaijan are not satisfied with the drivers rejecting orders with non-cash payments chosen. Talks with drivers reveal that they prefer cash payments and try not to take orders with bank card payments.

Meanwhile, Taxify has recently launched its services in Ganja, and announced a new Driver Destinations feature that enables drivers to maximize their daily earning potential, so drivers may reconsider their preferences.

Taxify is an international transportation network company, founded and headquartered in Tallinn, Estonia. The service was launched in August 2013, and in 2014 it went on to foreign shores.

As of May 2018, Taxify operates in 25 countries and 40 cities in Europe, Africa, West Asia and Central America. The company has 10 million customers globally and more than 500,000 drivers use the platform to offer rides.

Taxify launched its services in Azerbaijan in early 2017.
