The Uzbek-Indian Business Council has been established in Delhi city (India), Podrobno.uz reported.

The relevant agreement has been signed by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) of Uzbekistan.

The Business Council will become a platform for discussion and implementation of potential investment projects in various fields, will contribute to the promotion of trade turnover between the two countries, the development of transport links and the expansion of transit corridors between the countries. Its membership will include entrepreneurs, representatives of the chambers of commerce and industry of the two countries.

The parties noted that the Council should help to identify emerging barriers to trade and economic cooperation and submit proposals to eliminate them within its powers.

"It is also planned to organize events, meetings, fairs and exhibitions both in Uzbekistan and in India, to support business initiatives for the development of cooperation between small and medium-sized enterprises of the two countries under the auspices of the Council," the press service of the State Investments Committee said.

The press-service stated that in particular, such spheres as information and innovative technologies, development and extraction of mineral resources, including non-ferrous and rare metals, pharmaceuticals, chemical, food and light industries, tourism, cooperation between banking and financial institutions are the potential areas of cooperation.

The establishment of the Council will make it possible to direct to the promising areas the efforts aimed at strengthening the bilateral cooperation, by expanding the range of issues included in the agenda of discussions at the meetings of the intergovernmental commission.
