The head of Jihad-e-Agriculture Organization of Iran's Bushehr Province said a Qatari firm would build a slaughterhouse in the southern Iranian province.

“Based on an agreement signed between Iran Veterinary Organization and a Qatari firm, a slaughterhouse, as well as a quarantine center will be set up in Bushehr to take care of livestock imported from Australia,” Mohammad Taqi Manoochehri told IRNA on October 17.

The Qatari firm will import livestock from Australia, quarantine, slaughter them, and finally distribute in Iran’s market, he added.

The agreement will continue for a period of 10 years to supply Iran’s red meat market.

Noting that the construction of the abattoir will create jobs for Iranian youth, he said Qatar might also invest in Iran’s shrimp farming industry.

Iran’s red meat output during the three months to June 21 amounted to 98,800 tons to register a 0.08 percent decline year-on-year, a new report released by the Statistical Center of Iran said.
