Uzbekistan does not see any obstacles in the transition to settlements with Russia in national currencies, Minister of Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan Jamshid Khojayev said at the first Forum of Interregional Cooperation between Uzbekistan and Russia, Uzbek media reported.
"The issue of settlements in national currencies is raised by the Russian government. We do not see any obstacles to carrying out settlements in the national currencies. Some mechanisms have been considered and I believe that as soon as we work them out, we can offer them to businessmen. It is all on the agenda. We will work on it," Khojayev said.
A number of Russian officials have earlier said the response to US sanctions would be abandoning the US dollar and switching to national currencies in settlements.
