Iran plans to harvest over 40,000 tons of kiwi in Abbasabad

Iran plans to harvest 44,000 tons of kiwifruit in the Abbasabad county of the Mazandaran province, ILNA reported referring to Ali Abolhasan, director of the agriculture department in Mazandaran.

Ali Abolhasan noted that the total area of the kiwifruit orchards in Abbasabad reaches 1,367 hectares and 1,272 people work there.

There are 10 refrigerators in the county and 26,000 tons of kiwifruit are stored and marketed annually, he added.

Best time for kiwifruit harvesting is when the sugar content of the fruit reaches 6.2-6.5 percent according to Brix scale, Ali Abolhasan said.
