Considering Iran's sanctions situation, the Qazvin-Rasht railway is a new economic window that creates jobs and revenues, Qazvin MP Davoud Mohammadi told Trend.
"The railway's construction started 10 years ago. However, during first four years the project did not have a remarkable progress, but for the past six years it has developed faster," he said.
"Until now 1.8500 billion rials have been invested in the project and it is considered as one of the country's most important projects. It is expected that the Qazvin-Rasht railway will annually transport 4 million passengers and 10 million tons of cargo reducing traffic jams and energy consumption," Mohammadi added.
"The project's inauguration will create jobs and economic mobility in the region and it is a new economic window for the country," he added.
