There are plans to increase exports of fruits and vegetables from Azerbaijan to Arab countries starting from 2019, Bashir Guliyev, chairman of the Azerbaijan Fruit and Vegetable Producers and Exporters Association, told Trend.
"Presently, Azerbaijani fruits and vegetables are supplied to Arab countries in small volumes," Guliyev said, adding that there are also plans to increase production of fruits and vegetables in 2019.
He noted that Russia, Ukraine and Belarus are the main markets for the sale of fruits and vegetables.
"We intend to maximally increase supplies to these and other post-Soviet countries, because it is beneficial both in terms of logistics and the speed of delivery of perishable vegetables and fruits to markets," he added.
In 2017, Azerbaijan exported fruits and vegetables worth about $503 million, according to Azerbaijan’s State Customs Committee.
