Kazakhstan's trade turnover with Kyrgyzstan in the first 9 months of 2018 amounted to $625.7 million, which is 9.9 percent more than a year earlier, says a report by Energyprom.kz.
In January-September, exports from Kazakhstan to Kyrgyzstan increased by 22 percent, amounting to $452 million. The greatest growth was in the export of fuel and energy products (2.5 times in a year), and the largest decrease was in raw hides, furs and products from them (73.7 percent).
Imports of goods from Kyrgyzstan for the 9 months amounted to $173.4 million, which is almost 13 percent less year-on-year. The greatest growth was in the supply of building materials – almost 5 times. However, the supply of textiles decreased by 88 percent compared to January-September 2017.
It is worth noting that Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan plan to increase the volume of trade between the countries to $1 billion by 2020.
In general, in the first 9 months of 2018, Russia accounted for the bulk of Kazakhstan’s trade with the EAEU countries (almost 92 percent). Kyrgyzstan is second (4.5 percent) and Belarus – third (3.6 percent).
