Azerbaijan and Russia took another step in developing economic cooperation, Russian Ambassador to Azerbaijan Mikhail Bocharnikov said at a press conference in Baku Dec. 24, answering Trend’s question about the results of a meeting of the intergovernmental commission held in Moscow.
He said the agenda of the intergovernmental commission was very extensive and concerned specific cases to be fulfilled in the coming years, first of all, in 2019, in order to implement documents on economic cooperation.
"The intergovernmental commission for economic cooperation is the most important tool for real, practical promotion of our trade and economic relations," he noted. "I can mention some of the areas that were discussed during the meeting of the commission. Topics that were most actively discussed, first at the expert level, then at the ministerial level, included cooperation in trade and economy, agriculture, food security, industry, transport and humanitarian sphere. Concrete tasks were set. This is indeed a new step forward."
On Dec. 14, Moscow hosted the 17th meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission for Economic Cooperation between Azerbaijan and Russia. The meeting was attended by delegations led by co-chairs of the State Commission – Azerbaijan’s Economy Minister Shahin Mustafayev and Minister of Economic Development of Russia Maksim Oreshkin.
