Production volume of the steel plant in Mianeh county of Iran's East Azerbaijan province will exceed two million tons annually, CEO of Iran's East Azerbaijan Steel Company Mohammad Jafar Azmai said, Trend reports referring to IRNA.
Azmai noted that Mianeh is a crucial part of East Azerbaijan province.
He said that there are three workshops in the steel plant.
First, the industrial wire workshop, which was commissioned in 2000, mainly produces 10-32 mm reinforcement steel.
"This workshop manufactures 550,000 tons of quality products. Therefore, the company has received the quality certification of the EU. Quality of the products are checked before being exported," he said. "In the recent months Mianeh exported over 27,000 tons of steel products to Turkey, Iraq, Azerbaijan and Georgia."
The second workshop of the plant produces 800,000 tons of direct reduced iron per year, Azmai said.
He added that the third workshop will be commissioned by the end of the upcoming Iranian year (starts March 21, 2019).
The third workshop will produce iron ingots, he said, adding that after the commission of the third workshop, the production capacity of the plant will exceed two million tons.
