Connection of all provinces of Iran to the railway network is one of the greatest achievements in the field of railway transportation, Head of Iran’s Rail Transport Association Mohammad Rajabi said in an interview with the Young Journalists Club (YJC), Trend reported.

He said that such provinces as Alborz and Kurdistan haven’t yet connected to the railway network, adding that however these projects will be implemented soon.

Terminals of all ports, including Shahid Rajaee Port, Imam Khomeini Port and Chabahar Port, have been integrated into the railway network, he noted. Some railroads, including the Bandar Abbas-Bafq, Tehran-Mashhad, Tabriz-Zanjan, have been turned into double-track railways and this process continues, he said.

Tehran-Mashhad railway will soon become a triple-track one, he added.

“After the Islamic Revolution in Iran, local specialists produced 55 passenger railcars,” he said. “Some passenger railcars are out of order now, and we hope that we will receive financing in this regard.”
