Trend:

Iran’s Agriculture Minister Mahmoud Hojjati has announced that medicinal plants cultivation and expanding medicinal herbs industry are the priorities of the agriculture sector.

“Cultivating medicinal plants will create agriculture revenues and boost the utilization of agriculture lands,” the official said during a meeting with farmers in Borujen County in the Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari Province, Trend reports citing IRNA.

He said cultivating the medicinal herbs can create job opportunities.

Meanwhile, Governor of the Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari Province Iqbal Abbasi noted that lack of processing and complementary industries is one of the issues in the province.

“The province annually produces 1.5 million tons of agricultural, livestock and fishery products, and lack of processing industry has caused fewer revenues for farmers and more profits for dealers.”

Iran’s agriculture minister inaugurated two plans in Borujen County – medicinal herbs industry and greenhouse complexes.
