Cargo turnover in Kazakhstan grows by 4.2%

Cargo turnover in Kazakhstan in January 2019 amounted to 47.28 billion ton-kilometers, which is 4.2 percent more than in January 2018, Trend reports via Kazakh media.

According to the Statistics Committee of the National Economy Ministry, last month there was an increase of 4.5 percent in rail freight turnover and of 4.9 percent in pipeline transport.

Their share in the total cargo turnover was 49.8 and 25.7 percent, respectively. The volume of cargo transportation amounted to 288.67 million tons (3.4 percent up year-on-year).

In January, passenger traffic reached 23.08 billion passenger-kilometers (2.9 percent up). In total, 1.83 billion passengers were transported (1.2 percent up).
