Gross regional product of Kazakhstan’s Turkistan region amounted to 1.1 trillion tenge in 2018, Trend reports via Kazakh media.
During the annual report to the population, Governor of the region Zhanseit Tuymebayev said that the modernization of technological processes and the increase in the capacity of many enterprises led to sustainable development of the industrial sector.
"In 2018, the industrial output of the Turkistan region amounted to 453.8 billion tenge, an increase of 43.1 billion tenge. Production in the processing industry totaled 236.9 billion tenge, an increase of 13.7 billion tenge," the governor said.
As part of the Industrialization Map, 10 projects were launched in the region in 2018 and more than 800 jobs were created. This year, it is planned to implement 15 projects worth 11.9 billion tenge within the Industrialization Map, Tuymebayev added.
Last year, 288.1 billion tenge of investments were attracted to the region. Currently, the Turkistan Invest company, which provides services to investors on the single window principle, assists 24 major investment projects totaling $1.15 billion, providing jobs for more than 14,000 people.
It should also be noted that the Turkistan region leads in Kazakhstan in the agricultural production. Last year, agricultural production in the region amounted to 542.8 billion tenge. In addition, exports amounted to $180.9 million, an increase of $20.2 million. The Turkistan region ranked first in the country for meat exports in 2018: its share at the national level was 54 percent.
