The volumes of trade turnover between Azerbaijan and the Netherlands may grow up to $400-500 million in the next five years, coordinator of the local office of the Azerbaijani-Netherlands business hub Tariyel Mirzoyev told Trend.

“Presently, agriculture and chemical industry may become priority areas for cooperation between the countries,” he said. “In particular, educational and economic projects are being implemented in these spheres.”

“For example, among them is the project between the Azerbaijani Ministry of Agriculture and the Wageningen University, which holds a leading position in the world in agricultural education,” Mirzoyev said.

“The work with the university is aimed at development of applied solutions in agriculture,” he added. “The cooperation between ADA University and the Maastricht School of Management is developing. An air cargo corridor between Baku and Maastricht has been established.”

“The cooperation agreement signed between the Sumgait Chemical Industrial Park and the Chemelot chemical park in Limburg has been concluded,” Mirzoyev said.

According to the Azerbaijani State Customs Committee, the trade turnover between Azerbaijan and the Netherlands reached $181.83 million in 2018, which is 4.16 percent more than in 2017. The export of goods from Azerbaijan to the Netherlands amounted to $77.98 million in 2018.
