Kazakhstan’s infrastructure development costs increase

Republic budget expenditures on transport and communication in Kazakhstan in first two months of 2019 reached 33.3 billion tenge, which is 1.1 percent more than in the same period of last year, Trend reports with reference to finprom.kz

As reported, out of the state budget allocated to the transportation industry, the largest portion accounts for railway transport (42.4 percent or 14.1 billion tenge) showing an increase by 36.5 percent. It is closely followed by road transport (31 percent or 10.3 billion tenge); however, the sum allocated to the sector decreased by 36.6 percent. Water transport received 13.3 percent of the budget (4.4 billion tenge) with an increase by 92.4 percent.

According to the source, 2.6 billion tenge allocated to roads’ repair, maintenance and quality improvement shows cost reduction by 77.4 percent compared to the same period of the last year.

"In contrast, the largest cost increase is observed in city railway transport development sphere: it has amounted to 2.5 billion tenge, which is 9.3 times more than in the same period of the last year," the news report says.
