The construction of water reservoirs in the territory of Yalama agropark in the Istisu (former Mugtadir) municipality of Azerbaijan’s Khachmaz district is 50-60 percent complete, head of the agropark Zaur Aliyev told Trend.

According to him, at present, installation works for the construction of a concrete canal on the territory of the agropark have commenced.

"According to our calculations, irrigation works will be completed closer to the fall of this year. The work aimed at restoring the drainage system on the territory of the agropark has been almost completed. We previously expected to start the implementation of the brewing system in May, but most likely we will start by the end of the summer season, because the irrigation schedule has slightly changed," he said.

He also noted that the pivot system is a special unit designed to irrigate the acreage on the territory of Istisu municipality using the injection method.

"One million manats were allocated from the budget for irrigation works, while investments from the Yalama agropark amounted to about $2 million," he added.

The creation of agricultural parks was launched in Azerbaijan in accordance with the instructions by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev for acceleration of the development of the non-oil sector and application of intensive technologies in the manufacturing sector.

The agricultural parks are of great importance for expanding exports of non-oil products to foreign markets, creating national brands and forming a coordinated unified system in agriculture, producer-processor-consumer relations, training of qualified personnel in agriculture and opening new jobs.
