Car sales in Kazakhstan increase by 20%

Some 25,699 cars were sold in Kazakhstan in January-May 2019, which is 19 percent more than in the same period of the previous year, Trend reports referring to press office of Association of Kazakhstan Automobile Business.

Furthermore, 5,834 passenger cars and light commercial vehicles, as well as 331 trucks, special operations vehicles and buses account for sales in May.

“So far, May has been the most productive month of 2019. The increase of sales is mainly related to allocation of eight billion tenge tranche into the program of concessional auto credit program. To date, some 42 billion tenge were already allocated on this program. This funding is of revolving nature, i.e. loan repayments are directed on allocation of a new credit,” the report said.

Furthermore, National Bank of Kazakhstan decided to annually allocate 20 billion tenge on the program’s realization annually for the period of five years.

In May 2019, Toyota brand was the leader by the volume of sales (1,298 cars). The most popular models of cars were Toyota Camry (560 units), Hyundai Tucson manufactured in Kostanay region (411 units) and Lada Granta (400 units).

In terms of purchases, they are closely followed by Hyundai Accent (290 units), Lada 4х4 (289 units), Lada Vesta (276 units), Lada Largus (224 units), Hyundai Creta (221 units), Toyota LC Prado (187 units) and Volkswagen Polo (167 units).
