Iran's Fars province exports most of its hand woven carpets

Iran's Fars province exports 80 percent of hand woven carpets manufactured in the province, Chairman of Fars Industry, Mine and Trade Organization Hamedreza Eyzadi said, Trend reports via Shata News Agency.

Annually, 167,000 carpet weavers of the province weave over one million square maters of carpets, he said.

In the last Iranian year (March 21, 2018-March 20, 2019), the share of Fars province in the total carpet exports of Iran accounted for 15 percent, Eyzadi said. The province's income from carpet exports amounted to over $46 million. They were supplied to China, Pakistan, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Germany, Australia, the UK, Indonesia, Italy, Turkey, Greece and other countries, he added.

He further noted that Fars Industry, Mine and Trade Organization allocated 247 billion rials of loans as part of an employment program. Some 35,000 carpet weavers of the province have insurance, he added.
