In the first half of 2019, 2.5 million tourists were expected to arrive in Uzbekistan, but in fact Uzbekistan received 3,034.824 million tourists, Trend reports via Uzbek media.
Acting Chairman of the State Committee for Tourism Development Abdulaziz Akkulov made this statement at a press conference organized by the committee in Tashkent.
He said that in May 2019 alone, the influx of tourists from the CIS countries amounted to 452,032 people. Most tourists came from Kazakhstan (175,212) people, Kyrgyzstan (98,395), Tajikistan (92,584), Turkmenistan (41,905) and Russia (40,556). In the same month, 44,719 tourists from non-CIS countries visited Uzbekistan.
Compared to the first half of 2018, the influx of tourists increased by one million people.
)n July 9-10, the first tourism fair of the CIS countries will be held in the Uzbek city of Samarkand upon the initiative of the State Committee for Tourism Development of Uzbekistan .
