Samarkand region is leader in agrarian sector of Uzbekistan

The share of the Samarkand region in the total volume of products and services in agriculture, forestry and fisheries in Uzbekistan reached 12.2 percent in the first half of 2019, and it became a leader among the regions, Trend reports with reference to State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan.

The analysis shows that in January-June of the current year, the Samarkand region produced 20.1 percent of potatoes (295,900 tons), 12.4 percent of meat (140,600 tons), 13 percent of milk (618, 500 tons) and other agricultural products of the total volume produced in the country.

State Statistics Committee notes that Andijan and Tashkent regions occupy the next places with indicators of 10.7 percent and 10.6 percent, respectively.

The total value of products and services in agriculture, forestry and fisheries in January-June 2019 amounted to 82.390 trillion soums, or 2.1 percent more compared to the corresponding period of 2018. Plant growing and animal husbandry, hunting and provision of services in these areas amounted to 79, 319 trillion soums (+2.1 percent), forestry - 2,637 trillion soums (+3.3 percent), and fisheries - 432.9 billion soums (+12.1 percent).

Analysis by categories of farms showed that 77.9 percent of the total volume of agricultural production falls on dekhkan (personal subsidiary) farms, 19.4 percent - on farms, 2.7 percent - on organizations engaged in agricultural activities.

According to the State Statistics Committee, in terms of the distribution of shares of gross agricultural output by farm categories in the context of the territories, the highest rates in all regions fall on dekhkan (personal subsidiary) farms.

As for the Samarkand region, which is the leader of the development of the agricultural sector, the share of personal subsidiary farms in the total volume of agricultural production is 74.9 percent, farms - 21.9 percent, and organizations engaged in agricultural activities - 3.2 percent, reads the message.
