Rice will be cultivated in Uzbekistan by planting seedlings with use of modern machines of South Korean company Tong Yang Moolsan (TYM), Trend reports with reference to Ministry of Agriculture of Uzbekistan.

This new technology will increase yields, reduce the growing season, save up to 70-75 percent of seeds and effectively use up to 20-25 percent of water.

This was noted at a training workshop conducted by Research and Production Center for Agriculture and Foodstuffs and the Scientific Research Institute of Rice-Making of Uzbekistan in cooperation with the Korean Program on International Agriculture Center under the Administration for the Development of Agriculture of South Korea in Uzbekistan.

Currently, the sowing and planting seedlings of Tong Yang Moolsan are brought from Korea along with similar machines of the RF-48 and РRO600V brands. At the same time, trials are conducted to improve rice cultivation technology through modernization and fertility enhancement.

“If today planting rice on one hectare takes 12 hours in average, with the help of manual control machines, rice can be planted on 1.5-2 hectares of land during the same period of time”, Director of the Scientific Research Institute Masad Sattorov said.

This year, Uzbekistan plans to plant rice on 114,000 hectares of land, of which 57,900 hectares make up the main sowing land and 56,100 hectares is comprised by the area freed from grain crops.
