The Russian Uralmashzavod will completely modernize equipment at the copper factory of the Almalyk mining and metallurgical plant (AMMC), Trend reports citing the Uralmashzavod press service.

The plant in Yekaterinburg, Russia, owned by PJSC Gazprombank, will deliver 20 automated crushing complexes, 30 vibrating screens and two ball mills to Uzbekistan within a year. All this should significantly reduce energy consumption at all stages of production.

The contract signed between the companies Gazprombank and SFI Management Group, which operates AMMC, shows that Uralmashzavod will completely replace all the technological lines of the copper processing plant with new high-performance and energy-efficient equipment. It offers the most advanced engineering solutions including more durable steel grades, new armor materials and special crushing chamber profiles.

Today, Almalyk MMC is the only copper producer in Uzbekistan. The plant also produces refined copper, zinc metal, molybdenum, and lead concentrate. In addition, the AMMC accounts for about 90 percent of silver production and 20 percent of gold production in the country.

SFI Management Group was established in 2017. In addition to the Almalyk MMC, it manages state-owned blocks of shares in enterprises such as Uzmetkombinat, Uzvtortsvetmet and JSC Uzkhimfarm. Since 2017, SFI has been building a metallurgical plant in Tashkent, the volume of investments in the construction of which exceeds $ 300 million.
