By Tamilla Mammadova – Trend:

Wine export from Georgia to Russia decreased by 27 percent in July 2019 compared to the corresponding period in 2018, Trend reports with reference to the National Wine Agency of Georgia.

Compared to June 2019, the wine exports from Georgia to Russia decreased by 18 percent.

The significant decline in the agency’s export volume is explained by the political events of the summer of 2019, said the agency. It was also noted that the reduction in the sale of the product in Russia will affect the purchase of grapes, and winemakers are expected to purchase less materials for wine.

According to the agency of Georgia, about 4.52 million bottles of wine (0.75 liter) were exported from Georgia to Russia in May 2019. The figure declined to 4.20 million bottles in June. In July, the exports fell to 3.55 million bottles.
