President of Uzbekistan has adopted a decree "On measures for the comprehensive development of the Karakul breeding" approving the creation of a development fund for breeding of karakul sheep as a livestock industry under the Korakulchilik association, Trend reports citing the Ministry of Justice of Uzbekistan.
According to the decree, the size of the state subsidy in Uzbekistan for each produced and exported unit of karakul skins will be 50,000 soums, for each unit of karakulchi (fur) – 75,000 soums. These amounts will be paid to farms in 2019–2020.
The total budget of the fund will be 50 billion soums of budget funds.
Furthermore, production of the drug "Tympotin injection", which restores the immune system, and the drug "Erythym" used in anemia will be increased 10 times. The composition for these drugs is derived from the Karakul breed.
It is also planned to create scientific and pedigree experimental stations specializing in the cultivation of a high-elite class of thoroughbred Karakul sheep in some regions of Uzbekistan.
The Karakul breed is a fat-tailed coarse-haired breed of sheep of a dry-milk direction. It distributed in Central Asia, mainly in Uzbekistan.
