Iran's Kurdistan province accounts for 50 percent of the gold produced in the country, chairman of Iran's Kurdistan Industry, Mine and Trade Organization Mohammad Daravazmi said, Trend reports with reference to the organization's website.
The mining reserves of Kurdistan province exceeds 644 million tons in total, he said.
Presently, 149 mines operate in the province, he added.
According to him, there are a total of 403 mines in Kurdistan province.
