The freight traffic in the railway direction Uzbekistan-Afghanistan-Iran, in accordance with the rough estimates, will have an annual increase of 15-20 percent, a representative of the Ministry of Transport of Uzbekistan told Trend in an interview.

The representative added that the annual freight traffic in Termez-Mazari-Sharif-Meimene-Herat-Khaf-Bandar-Abbas (Uzbekistan-Afghanistan-Iran) railway corridor can reach up to four million tons after full commissioning.

"The total length of the transport corridor in the direction of the port of Bandar Abbas (Iran) through the territory of Afghanistan will be approximately 2,540 km, taking into account the estimated length of 984 km of the Hairaton – Mazari-Sharif - Herat - Iranian border railway route," the official stated.

The representative also noted the construction of a new railway line "Uzbekistan - Kyrgyzstan - China".

The official of the Ministry of Transport said that the railway line will create a new transport corridor China - Central Asia - Europe, the potential volume of traffic through which can reach up to 10-15 million tons per year.
