A trilateral Kabul – Tehran – Istanbul transit corridor to be established in the near future, said the head of transit office in Iran Road Maintenance & Transportation Organization Manoucher Salmanzadeh, Trend reports citing ISNA.

"The issue of establishing the corridor has been emphasized during the joint Iran and Afghanistan meeting in Kabul," said Salmanzadeh, Trend reports citing ISNA.

The 17 Iran-Afghanistan road and transportation meeting was held in Kabul last week. Two sides signed the agreement for road transportation cooperation that included solving problems at the borders.

"In field of cargo and passenger transportation all the issues were reviewed and trilateral corridor between Iran, Turkey and Afghanistan is part of it, considering the agreements the case is to be discussed at the first trilateral meeting in Tehran," he said.

"Afghanistan also touched upon the Chabahar Port, and to use this route as part of trilateral agreement between Afghanistan, Iran and India. The problems of drivers and transportation companies of two countries were reviewed, for example if Iranian trucks are having problems in Afghanistan, the country should solve it," he added.
