By Matanat Nasibova – Trend:

Azerbaijan’s Zagatala hazelnut processing factory intends to export hazelnuts to more countries in the future, Director of the factory Zulfugar Gurbanov told Trend.

“The US market is considered to be a new potential export market,” he added.

"We have received offers from the US partners regarding the supply of products,” Gurbanov said. “Presently, the company's products are supplied to Europe and the CIS. Some 40 percent of the entire export accounts for the Russian market, more than 50 percent - for Europe, and the remaining volumes for the CIS countries, namely Ukraine and Belarus."

While speaking about the cost of the exported products, he stressed that this mainly depends on the prices in the world market.

"In particular, we purchase the products from the producers on average at 3.4 manats per kilogram,” Gurbanov said. “As for the export price, given the fact that Turkey sets the prices on hazelnuts in the world, the cost of the final product mainly depends on the market conditions."

“The factory exports kernels of peeled hazelnuts, including roasted and chopped kernels,” he said. “We also produce hazelnut flour, which is sold domestically.”

The factory has produced about 1,000 tons of hazelnuts since early 2019.

The factory’s products have a certificate of conformity issued by the Azerbaijani State Committee on Standardization, Metrology and Patents. There is also a confirmation code #AZE 6231 120 for the export of the products to the EU countries.

Turkish equipment has been installed at the factory.
