Feasibility study of the project for the production of polyvinyl chloride (PVC) at Navoiyazot JSC in Uzbekistan includes production of 1.2 million cubic meters of argon (inert gas) per year, PVC project manager Ramil Dilvanov said in an exclusive interview with Trend.

“However, if a consumer appears and we reach full production capacity, production will reach 3.24 million cubic meters of argon per year,” Dilvanov said.

In accordance with the decree by Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev dated Nov.18, 2013 “On the investment program of Uzbekistan for 2014’, construction of complexes for the production of PVC is underway in the country.

Dilvanov noted that in addition to argon, the plant will produce PVC, methanol and caustic soda.

“The expected annual production capacity of PVC is 100,000 tons, methanol – 71,800 tons, and caustic soda – 295,400 tons,” Dilvanov said.

The project manager noted that 85 percent of the equipment was supplied by China. He added that the project was financed by three parties.

“The total cost of the project is $489.2 million,” he said. “This includes the funds allocated by the Uzbek government amounting $65.9 million, Navoiyazot's own funds and $343 million allocated by Export-Import Bank of China in the form of a long-term soft loan for a period of 20 years.”

He noted that the project will be completed at the end of 2019.
