Business sector turnover in Georgia increases

The volume of business sector turnover in Georgia increased by 20.7 percent in 2018 compared to 2017 and amounted to 86.6 billion lari, Trend reports referring to the Georgian National Statistics Office (Geostat).

The production value of the business sector is characterized by the growth tendency. In 2018, its volume equaled 41.6 billion lari, which is year-on-year 9 percent higher.

In 2018, total purchases of goods and services carried out by enterprises equaled 56.7 billion lari (year-on-year 11.6 percent higher), while the purchase goods and services for resale amounted 35.9 billion lari (year-on-year 13.6 percent higher).

In 2018 the average number of employees of the business sector equaled 734,200 people, which is year-on-year by 3.7 percent higher. Out of the total number of employees, 40.2 percent are female and 59.8 percent are male.

Some 33.1 percent of total number of employees comes on large, 21.8 percent – on medium and 45.1 percent - on small businesses.

The total number of employed persons amounted 679,500 (year-on-year 4.1 percent higher). The total personnel costs of enterprises equaled to 9.04 billion lari (year-on-year 12.4 percent higher).
