Uzbekistan among TOP-20 countries with most gold reserves

Uzbekistan has entered the list of countries with the most gold reserves, in September 2019, according to the World Gold Council, Trend reports citing the organization.

Uzbekistan took 17th place in the rating in terms of the number of gold and foreign exchange reserves with 325.7 tons, which is 56.2 percent of the country's total reserves.

Neighboring Kazakhstan is on the 15th place in this list with 377.3 tons.

At the top of the ranking are the United States (8133.5 tons) and Germany (3366.8 tons). International Monetary Fund (2814 tons) is in third place in terms of the number of gold and foreign exchange reserves.

Italy (2451.8 tons), France (2436.1 tons) and Russia (2230.4 tons) did not get into the top three.

In the report of the World Gold Council for the first quarter of 2019, Uzbekistan became the world leader in gold sales.

Mongolia is in second place in sales. The country sold 3.4 tons of gold. Tajikistan closes the top three exporters with one ton sold.

The place of the main importer of gold in the world ranking was taken by Russia. For three months, the Central Bank of Russia imported 55.3 tons of precious metal. Turkey is in second place, having bought 40 tons, China, in turn, acquired 33 tons.
