Azerbaijan’s TOP-5 trade partners in January-September 2019

From January to September 2019, Azerbaijan’s trade turnover with its five main trade partners amounted to $12.962 billion or 51.3 percent of its total trade, Trend reports referring to Azerbaijan’s State Customs Committee.

Italy retained the status of Azerbaijan’s largest trading partner with a turnover of $4.5 billion and a share of 17.9 percent. Italy is followed by Turkey - $3.4 billion (13.3 percent), Russia - $2.1 billion (8.3 percent), China - $1.6 billion (6.6 percent) and Switzerland - $1.3 billion (5.26 percent).

During the reported period, the highest value of Azerbaijan’s imports accounted for Russia with almost $1.6 billion (15.47 percent). It is followed by Switzerland - $1.2 billion (11.58 percent), Turkey - $1.15 billion (11.08 percent), China - $962.836 million (9.28 percent) and the US - $652.163 million (6.2 percent).

The share of these countries in Azerbaijan’s total imports was 53.7 percent.

Italy was again the main importer of Azerbaijani products during the reported period. Italy accounted for $4.2 billion (28.52 percent) of all Azerbaijani exports. Next come Turkey - $2.2 billion (14.83 percent), Israel – almost $1.1 billion (7.18 percent), India - $824.5 million (5.55 percent) and Germany - $726.9 million (4.89 percent).

The share of these countries in Azerbaijan’s total exports was almost 61 percent.

In general, during the reported period, Azerbaijan’s foreign trade operations increased by 13.8 percent compared to the same period in 2018 and amounted to $25.2 billion.

The positive balance during the reported period amounted to $4.5 billion, which is 41.9 percent less compared to the same period last year ($6.4 billion).
