Nearly 20% of Kazakh trade turnover accounts for Russia

Russia continues being main trading partner of Kazakhstan accounting for 19.5 percent of the total trade turnover of Kazakhstan, Trend reports with reference to the press office of prime minister of Kazakhstan.

Meanwhile, meeting of an Intergovernmental Commission on Cooperation between Kazakhstan and Russia, was held in Nur-Sultan, Kazakhstan.

Within the framework of the meeting, parties discussed issues of cooperation in various areas.

Furthermore, as noted during the meeting, value of mutual trade turnover between countries amounted to $18.5 billion during 2018, which is 13.1 percent more than during 2017. Value of bilateral trade during first eight months of 2019 amounted to $12.2 billion indicating an increase of 0.8 percent compared to the same period of last year.

During the meeting First Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Finance of Kazakhstan Alikhan Smailov highlighted importance of developing transit potential of Kazakhstan, in particular of the project Western Europe - Western China International Transit Corridor.

He also expressed confidence that the completion of the project will allow countries to fully realize the transit potential.
