Georgia increases export of spices to China

Georgia exported 946 tons of ginger, saffron, turmeric, thyme, bay leaves, curry and other spices to China from January through September 2019, Trend reports with reference to the Georgian National Statistics Office (Geostat).

Spices were exported from Georgia to China for a total amount of $1.7 million.

On an annualized basis, Georgia increased the export of spices by 911 tons. Over the same period last year, 35 tons of spices totaling $65,300 were exported from Georgia to China.

For nine months of 2019, total imports to Georgia from China amounted to $647.2 million In turn, Georgia exported goods worth $125.1 million to China.

The foreign trade turnover of Georgia with China from January to August 2019 exceeded $772.3 million, which is 8.4 percent of the total trade turnover of Georgia.
