Four 100t capacity bridges are currently being constructed in the village of Chuberi, Mestia Municipality of Georgia within the framework of the Nenskra Hydropower Plant (HPP) project, Trend reports citing Georgian media outlets.
The works are carried out by JSC Nenskra Hydro, a subcontractor of Georgian Construction Consortium. Preparatory works for the construction of the Nenskra HPP involve construction of 14 bridges and 45 km of roads. The main construction works are planned to start in 2020.
The Nenskra HPP infrastructure will include two tunnels. The Nakra transfer tunnel will connect Nakra and Nenskra valleys, divert water from the Nakra weir into the Nenskra reservoir. The Nenskra headrace tunnel will connect the reservoir with the powerhouse.
JSC Nenskra Hydro will use the latest technology for excavation of Nenskra HPP tunnels, namely, two double shield tunnel boring machines, custom made especially for JSC Nenskra Hydro by the German Herrenknecht company.
JSC Nenskra Hydro is a project-based company established in 2015 within cooperation between a state-owned Korea Water Resources Corporation (K-water) and Georgian JSC Partnership Fund.
The company is developing the Nenskra Hydropower Plant Project in the Nenskra and Nakra river valleys in Mestia Municipality of Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti region. The 280 MW Nenskra HPP will generate approximately 1,200 GWh of electricity annually, which will be fully consumed by the Georgian market.
