Northern Kazakhstan approves projects within economy of simple things program

Some 20 projects significant for the economy of Kazakhstan’s North Kazakhstan region were approved and funded in the region, Head of the region Kumar Aksakalov said, Trend reports with reference to Aksakalov’s page on Facebook.

According to Aksakalov, a meeting of the project office for implementation of 'economy of simple things' program has been held in the region and a number of relevant issues were discussed.

“Currently, the project office is supporting implementation of 42 projects worth 12 billion tenge (approximately $52.6 million). Since the program has been launched, 20 projects have been approved and funded. Another 11 applications are being reviewed,” the head of the region said.

He added that the region is providing support to entrepreneurs including those who have just started a business.

“Thanks to the program, some 12 new factories will be established in the region. These are agriculture manufacturing, furniture, construction, food products, plastic and paper items [production sectors]. We also need more projects in raw materials processing,” Aksakalov said.

The ‘economy of simple things’ program has been approved in line with implementation of the State of the Nation Address of the president of Kazakhstan from October 5, 2018. The program is aimed at the development of manufacturing of consumer goods and on their import substitution.

North-Kazakhstan region is one of 14 regions of Kazakhstan with administrative center in Petropavl city. Region’s main specialization is the development of agriculture, the main purpose of which is to create conditions for increasing the competitiveness of agribusiness business. Of total 9,8 million ha of land in the region agricultural land accounts for 7.1 million ha.
