Uzbekistan to launch new metallurgical plant in May of 2020

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Nov. 8

By Fakhri Vakilov - Trend:

Uzbekistan’s Tashkent Metallurgical Plant (TMP) will release the first roll of cold rolled metal in May 2020, Trend reports citing TMP’s press service.

The construction of the plant is in full swing in Tashkent region’s Zangiata district, and by 2023 it is planned to bring the plant to full capacity.

TMP will be the first enterprise in the country to produce cold-rolled metal with protective anti-corrosion coatings for the construction industry, engineering and other industries.

Putting it into operation will reduce Uzbekistan’s dependence on imports of metallurgical products and significantly increase its industrial potential. With regard to the industrialization of Uzbekistan’s economy, in order to meet the growing needs of the market, the project initiators decided to change technological solutions with the prospect of increasing the design capacity to 750,000 tons.

The enterprise will export at least 20 percent of the total production.

Export is envisaged to such countries as Iran, Turkey, Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine, Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia. The enterprise will compete with Russia and China by entering these markets.

The manufacturer of equipment for TMP is the Italian concern Danieli - one of the world's largest manufacturers of metallurgical equipment. The cost of equipment and the most modern technological and technical solutions, low production costs and high quality of finished products was taken into account when choosing a supplier.

The general contractor for the construction of the plant is the Russian MetProm group of companies. Today it is one of the world's leading design and construction organizations in the metallurgical industry. In Tashkent, the company carries out the design of the facility, its construction, commissioning and staff training.
