Trade industry possesses highest share in total turnover of Georgia’s business sector

The trade industry (including repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles) has the highest share (38.5 percent) in the total turnover in Georgia’s business sector in the third quarter of 2019, Trend reports referring to Georgian National Statistics Office (Geostat).

It followed by arts, entertainment and recreation with 24.1 percent share, manufacturing – 9.5 percent, construction – 8.8 percent, transportation and storage – 5.6 percent, electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply – 2.5 percent, and other sectors with 11.1 percent share.

In the third quarter of 2019, manufacturing (21.5 percent), construction (20.8 percent), trade (16.9 percent) and transportation and storage (9.2 percent) occupy the top four places in terms of the production value. Rest of the sectors has the 31.6 percent share.

In the reported period, trade (including wholesale and retail trade, repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles), manufacturing and construction activities are leading in business sector by the number of employees, amounting to 26.2 percent, 12.9 percent and 10.3 percent share respectively.

The enterprises engaged in health care and social work activities (10.3 percent), transportation and storage (8.1 percent) and accommodation and food service activities (5.8 percent) also have a significant share.

By regions, the leaders in gross turnover are Tbilisi – 75.1 percent, Adjara – 7.7 percent, Kvemo Kartli – 4.4 percent, Imereti – 4.1 prcent, and Samegrelo-Zemo svaneti – 2.6 percent.

By regions, the leaders in gross production value are Tbilisi – 64.2 percent, Adjara – 9.1 percent, Kvemo Kartli – 6.8 percent, Imereti – 5.9 percent, Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti – 3.6 percent.

In terms of the number of employees, the leaders are Tbilisi – 64.1 percent, Adjara – 9.7 percent, Kvemo Kartli – 6.8 percent, Imereti – 5.6 percent, and Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti – 3.8 percent.
