Highland enterprises of Georgia receive new benefits

BAKU, Azerbaijan, December 7

By Tamilla Mammadova – Trend:

Georgian enterprises located in highland areas of the country will have the right to sell their goods not only in highland areas, but also in the whole territory of Georgia, Trend reports citing statement of Ministry of Finance of Georgia.

As the ministry noted, they will not lose their special “highland business” status and their preferential tax status will not be cancelled.

"Selling goods on the territory of whole Georgia and exporting outside the country will not prevent businesses located in highland areas from receiving 'highland business' status", said the ministry.

Currently, there are 403 enterprises in Georgia, which have this status.

According to the ministry, the changes will contribute to the growth of interest in production in highland settlements and increase assistance to enterprises operating there.

Enterprises located in highland areas also have preferential tax payer status. Thus, the owners of the enterprises are free from income tax for 10 years and enterprises are free from profit tax and property tax for 10 years.
