This Iranian year (began March 21, 2019), products worth $43 million were exported from the Maragheh district of Iran’s East Azerbaijan province, Managing Director of the province's customs office Heidar Jalalzadeh said, Trend reports citing IRNA.
Jalalzadeh noted that 75,500 tons of chemical, agricultural and industrial products have been exported from the district since the beginning of the year.
The director added that various glassware, sodium carbonate and dates were the main exported products.
Jalalzadeh said that these products were exported to 30 countries, including Turkey and Iraq.
The director noted that exports from the district increased by 40 percent in weight and by 132 percent in value compared to the same period last year.
Maragheh district, with the population of about 263,000 people, is located 127 kilometers from Tabriz, the capital of the East Azerbaijan province. The district has great potential for exporting non-oil products, including manufacturing, industrial and agricultural products.
