Turkish company intends to start operating in Uzbekistan

Turkish Eczacıbaşı Group is going set up of a sanitary ware production unit in Uzbekistan, Trend reports citing Uzbek media.

As reported earlier, the Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoev, as part of his trip to Turkey, met with the senior executives of Turkish business companies on Feb. 20.

After the opening remarks by the head of state, top managers of leading Turkish companies made presentations on their projects.

The event was attended by high-rank representatives of the Association of Chambers of Commerce and Exchanges of Turkey, Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA), Gebze Industrial Zone, Ziraat Bank, such companies as Zorlu Holding, Zoshkunoz Holding, Exacibashi, Baikar, Dunyagoz, Kanymed Saglik, Bau Global, Havelsan and others.

In particular, Chairman of Eczacıbaşı Group Bulent Eczacıbaşı said that the company had been closely monitoring the evolution of the business environment in Uzbekistan since 2017.

"We are well informed of Uzbekistan’s efforts to make this country an attractive destination for investors not only in Central Asia, but also around the world," said Bulent Eczacıbaşı.

According to him, Eczacıbaşı Group wants to start operations in Uzbekistan. The group considers the setting up of a sanitary ware production unit, the chairman added.

Eczacıbaşı Group comprising 41 companies has 12,500 employees and a combined net turnover of over $2 billion. Eczacıbaşı's core sectors are building products, pharmaceuticals and consumer products. Additionally, the group is active in finance, information technology, welding technology and real estate.

Visit of Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Turkey ended on February 21.
