Citrus, Subtropical and Tropical Plants Center to be established in Uzbekistan

The Citrus, Subtropical and Tropical Plants Center will established in Uzbekistan under the resolution of Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, Trend reports with the reference to Uzbekistan National News Agency.

Uzbekistan should attract funds from international financial institutions for development of lemon farming, including loans from foreign organizations in the amount of $100 million. Such an instruction to relevant ministries and departments is contained in the resolution of Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

Also, the Association of Lemon Producers and Exporters was renamed the Association of Producers and Exporters of Citrus, Subtropical and Tropical Plants, the report said.

Its tasks will include developing products for plantations, organizing nurseries, modernizing existing greenhouses, certification and much more.

An additional 2,500 hectares of land will be allocated for the cultivation of lemons in 2020, the report said. Targeted program of lands will be formed within the next two months.

The state reportedly guarantees support to enterprises growing lemons. Thus, from March 1 this year, united in cooperation farms, as well as individual entrepreneurs will be able to receive subsidies in the amount of up to 30 million soum (more than $3,000) for each hectare - for the organization of new lemon plantations and purchase of seedlings.

Lemon exporters will be covered up to 25 percent of transportation costs.
