Volume of food manufacturing in Kazakhstan for 2019 revealed

The value of food product manufacturing in Kazakhstan amounted to 1.6 trillion tenge in 2019 ($4.2 billion), which is 0.3 percent less than in 2018, Kazakhstan’s First Vice Minister of Agriculture Aidarbek Saparov said, Trend reports with reference to the ministry.

Saparov talked the work done in the country's agriculture sector in 2019 and plans for the future.

He said that the vegetable oil, flour products and noodles manufacturing volume increased in 2019 compared to 2018.

At the same time the volume of flour, canned fruits and vegetables, juices, cereal and sugar confectionery, sugar production decreased.

Talking about the irrigation system importance for country’s agriculture Saparov noted Kazakhstan’s current irrigation condition.

He said that the area of irrigated land which has water infrastructure is 1.5 million ha.

“Within the framework of the agricultural sector development state program some 146,000 ha of irrigated land were restored. Furthermore, only some 37,700 ha of country’s irrigated land area are currently in use,” Saparov said.

He added that the reason for this is delay in acceptance work, lack of water supply networks, sprinkling equipment, financial problems, etc.

“Restoration of 182,000 more ha of the irrigated land is planned for 2020 including area which wasn’t restored in 2019,” Saparov said.

Agro-industrial complex of Kazakhstan plays a key role in country’s economy. Its development will balance sustainable development of the country, will increase labor productivity and will provide increase in living standard of the main part of population. State Development program of agro-industrial complex till 2021 is being implemented currently.

The program provides for implementation of 10 tasks, and ensuring the availability of sales markets and export development, and the development of rural areas are among it.

Country's agro-industrial complex was set a goal to radically increase of labor productivity and growth of processed agricultural products exports at least 2.5 times. All this will provide key conditions for the development of the agro-industrial sector.
