Turkmenistan to increase cement production

BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 13

Commissioning of the second stage of the Turkmenistan's Lebap cement plant will increase its capacity to one million tons per year, Trend reports with reference to Turkmenistan Seqodnya ("Turkmenistan today") newspaper.

This became known during the visit of President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to the Koitendag etrap (region), where the Lebap cement plant and Garlyk mining and processing complex are located.

The plant produces cement of popular brands, including Portland cement and sulphate-resistant cement as well grouting cement for the oil and gas industry.

During the visit, Berdimuhamedov got acquainted with the design of industrial and production facilities that are planned for construction in 2020-2023. The president also saw the buildings to be commissioned by 25th anniversary of permanent neutrality of Turkmenistan.

As Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Shamukhammet Durdylyev reported, it is planned to build the second stage to increase the annual capacity of the Lebap cement plant to one million tons. He also informed that an international tender is announced for the construction of a new cement plant in the Lebap velayat.

Berdimuhamedov stressed that development strategy for regions is a key component for the state sustainable development.
