Exports of products of West Azerbaijan province in northwestern Iran increased by 44 percent last Iranian year (from March 21, 2019 to March 20, 2020), compared to last year (from March 21, 2018 to March 21, 2019), said Gholamreza Babaei, chairman of the West Azerbaijan province Industry, Mine and Trade Organization, Trend reports citing Organization's website.
According to Babaei, the weight of products exported from the province exceeded 1.2 million tons last Iranian year.
Babaei added that in general, the province's foreign trade increased by 69 percent.
The official did not clarify the value of exported products.
The official said that as many as 1,900 industrial projects were implemented with an investment of 56.3 trillion rials (about $1.34 billion) and 54,400 people were employed last Iranian year.
"More than 788 enterprises were established in the industrial sector and 299 enterprises were licensed to operate," he said.
According to official, currently, there is more than 60 percent progress in the construction of 290 projects in the province and their commissioning will provide employment for more than 8,000 people.
Babaei also said that licenses were issued for the discovery of 65 mines and the exploitation of 39 mines in the mining sector last Iranian year.
