Turkmenistan and the Regional Coordination and Support Department for the for the European Union-Central Asia (EU-CA) Water and Environment Cooperation Platform (WECOOP) have discussed the future joint projects related to water use, Trend reports with reference to Turkmenistan.ru online newspaper.
The meeting was held via a videoconference, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.
The parties discussed joint projects and activities that have to be implemented during the third phase of the WECOOP project. The participants also highlighted the preparation of normative acts to the laws of Turkmenistan about waste, air protection, environmental expertise and the development of the Turkmenistan’s forest cadaster.
The main goal of WECOOP is to form an effective policy to address water use and climate change issues at the international level based on EU standards.
The Regional Coordination and Support for the EU-Central Asia Enhanced Regional Cooperation on Environment, Climate Change and Water (WECOOP) project was launched by the European Union in August 2016. It intends to continue strengthening the dialogue and sustainable development between the Central Asia partners, and to facilitate their cooperation with the EU on environment and climate change.
