Iranian knowledge-based company replaces Canadian supplier in telecommunications industry

TEHRAN, Iran, April 20
Trend:

An Iranian knowledge-based channel simulator producer has replaced the Canadian supplier in the country's telecommunications industry.

According to the Vice President for Science and Technology, a device called a channel simulator is generally imported from a Canadian company, but sanctions and a ban on sales forced Iranian knowledge-based company to localize its production, Trend reports citing IRNA.

"This device is used in the country's telecommunication system to test the performance of the modem,” CEO of Soroush Wave System Company Soroush Akhlaghi Esfahani said.

“This piece of equipment was not previously produced in the country, and domestic demand was by and large met by purchase from a Canadian company,” he said. “The Canadian company was bought by an American company, and the American side was no longer willing to sell the device to Iran along with other products.”

Referring to the significant domestic capability, Esfahani added that the price of domestic product is about one-eighth of the same foreign product.
