Azerbaijan's Nakhcivan tea factory sees drop in sales, talks reasons

BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 4

By Matanat Nasibova – Trend:

The Nakhchivan Tea Factory in Azerbaijan has observed a noticeable decline in sales of its products on the domestic market since the beginning of 2020, Executive Director of the enterprise Etibar Safarov told Trend.

The decline in sales is primarily due to serious competition in the domestic market, as well as partially with the current situation amid the spread of the coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19), the director noted.

“The company's production volumes were minimized in the first quarter of 2020. In April, production began to partially improve. At the moment, the factory does not work at full capacity, since there is no strong need for this. The fact is that in the barns and warehouses of the enterprise there are about 3 tons of tea that are to be sold in the coming months. We will start working at full capacity as soon as there is demand for it,” said Safarov.

The enterprise’s annual capacity is 28,000-30,000 tons of tea. Since the beginning of 2020, the factory has produced 15-20 tons of tea, 10 tons of which were sold on the domestic market. Tea products are sold in packages with a capacity of 200, 250 and 500 gram,” he said.

The factory’s products have a certificate of compliance issued by the State Committee for Standardization, Metrology and Patents of Azerbaijan.

The company uses Italian, Turkish and American equipment in the production.
