By Tamilla Mammadova – Trend:

Georgia and Turkey are bound by not only tourism, but also by common business relations, said the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia Natia Turnava, Trend reports via Georgian media.

She made the remark after an online meeting with the Minister of Culture and Tourism of Turkey Mehmet Nuri Ersoy.

According to her, many Turkish businessmen come on business to Georgia and vice versa. The people-to-people connection between the two countries is quite strong, and the movement between the countries has always been active.

As Turnava noted, it is especially important to be prepared for the safe restoration of both land and air communications between Georgia and Turkey.

“With the Minister of Culture and Tourism of Turkey, we discussed the protocols and the necessary conditions that must be observed to restore communication between the countries. In addition, we noted the readiness of Turkish Airlines to resume flights between our countries,” said the minister of economy.

Natia Turnava informed her Turkish counterpart about the decision of the Georgian government to open the tourism market for international travelers on July 1.

Turkey ranks first in Georgia’s commodity circulation.

From January through April 2020, total imports from Turkey to Georgia amounted to $406.02 million. Georgia exported goods worth $63.27 million to Turkey.

The trade turnover of Georgia with Turkey in the reporting period exceeded $469.3 million, which is 13.5 percent of Georgia's total trade turnover.
